Institute of International and European Affairs – IIEA

Overview

Lightbox started working with the IIEA in the Spring of 2009 when we were contracted to redesign their existing site to change the focus of the content from a text heavy bias to one that put the events run by the organisation to the fore. There are numerous events being hosted weekly at the Institute and it was important to promote these to members but also to provide people with a resource that could be used as a reference afterwards. All events are recorded on video by the IIEA and these are then published to YouTube. The IIEA website communicates with the YouTube API and displays videos and comments and then wraps this content in other event and theme related content provided by the organisation including transcripts, slide decks, podcasts and speaker information.

The site also provides an area where users can purchase and download publications, there is a live blogging facility that runs in conjunction with events and all content on the site is fully managed by in-house IIEA staff.

The Institute of International and European Affairs is an independent policy research think-tank based in Dublin. It is a non-profit organisation with charitable status. It provides members with in-depth analysis of EU and international developments and their implications for Ireland and Europe. Europe House, the Institute’s city-centre Dublin premises, provides a forum for dialogue between representatives from government, business, industry, the civil service, the diplomatic corps, the legal professions, NGO’s, trade unions, the media and academia.
