The Restaurants Association of Ireland approached us to come up with a site that would provide their members with an enhanced presence on the web and also to bring consumers closer to their 600 restaurant members across Ireland. We designed and developed Where To Eat to provide restaurants with a new platform to promote themselves, advertise special offers and facilitate online bookings whilst enabling consumers to write reviews and rate the restaurants.
We built a bespoke Grails application that gives full control to the restaurants of their individual profiles and also enables Wheretoeat.ie staff to manage and maintain all other content on the site.Features include a points system for reviewers, special offers, recipes and an integrated gift card solution. Site users can log in using Facebook Connect or Twitter, manage their profile, swap points for gift cards and comment on other user reviews. Restaurant users can manage all elements of their online profile including menus, special offers, photos. awards, booking information and Google map location.
Wheretoeat.ie was a project that Lightbox designed and built from the ground up. We started with a blank sheet of paper and produced all design assets, interfaces and code to make the site what it is today.
